Welcome to Satellite Communication page A communications satellite (sometimes abbreviated to comsat) is an artificial satellite stationed in space for the purposes of telecommunications. Modern communications satellites use geosynchronous orbits, Molniya orbits or low polar Earth orbits.
A Satellite communication network consists of a space segment and ground stations. space segment which serves a specific ground segment. The characteristics and design features vary accordingly whether the system is for fixed, mobile or direct broadcast applications. Ground stations send RF signal to the corresponding satellite. The signal is received down converted in frequency, amplified and transmitted to other earth station.
