Camera phone A camera phone is a mobile phone which has a camera built-in and a server-based infrastructure that allows the user to share pictures with anyone instantly. The first complete camera phone was built by Philippe Kahn[1][2]. Like many complex systems, several patents cover portions of the camera phone. There are over 1000 relevant patents dating back to the 1960s. Philippe Kahn built the first functioning solution. The first commercial camera phone complete with infrastructure was the J-SH04, made by Sharp Corporation and marketed by J-Phone (Vodafone) in Japan in November 2000 designed in collaboration with Philippe Kahn's efforts.Camera Phones share pictures instantly and automatically via a sharing infrastructure integrated with the carrier network. They do not use connecting cables or removable media to transfer pictures. Personal computer intervention is not necessary.
